โœ… Clean Unused Temp./Room/Filter

Clean Unused Temp./Room/Filter performs comprehensive detection and removal of unused view templates, unplaced rooms, and unused view filters, streamlining project cleanup beyond standard Revit capabilities.
Version 1.4 | Cleaners

Overviewโ€‹

While Revit provides individual management interfaces for view templates, rooms, and view filters, it lacks efficient tools for detecting and batch-deleting unused assets across these categories. This tool addresses that limitation by automatically identifying unused view templates (with zero assigned views), unplaced rooms, and unused view filters.

Key Featuresโ€‹

Usage includes:

  • Multi-Category Detection: Simultaneously identifies unused view templates, unplaced rooms, and unused view filters.
  • Individual Selection Control: View detailed breakdown lists and select specific items for targeted deletion.
  • Automatic Detection: Automatically checks all unused items with one-click selection for efficient processing.
  • Batch Processing Options: Delete by category or execute comprehensive cleanup of all unused assets.

Requirementsโ€‹

Before using Clean Unused Temp./Room/Filter, ensure your environment meets the following prerequisites:

Autodesk Revit: From version 2020 to newest.
NonicaTab: NonicaTab Pro.

note

This video was recorded with a previous version of the tool. There has been updates and new features implemented:

  • Individual selection of items.

Usageโ€‹

Understanding Standard vs. Enhanced Template Cleanupโ€‹

  1. Standard Revit Management:
    • View Templates: Navigate to View โ†’ View Templates โ†’ Manage View Templates, manually check view counts, delete individually
    • Rooms: Create room schedules to identify "Not Placed" rooms, delete one by one
    • View Filters: No built-in method to detect unused filters without programming knowledge
    • Time-consuming manual process for each category
  2. Enhanced Cleanup (This Tool):
    • Automatically detects all three categories of unused assets
    • Provides detailed breakdown lists with individual selection capability
    • Enables batch deletion by category or comprehensive cleanup
    • Handles view filters detection that's normally impossible without programming

Basic Asset Detection Workflowโ€‹

  1. Navigate to NonicaTab Pro โ†’ Clean Unused Temp./Room/Filter.
  2. Review Detection Results: The interface displays four main sections:
    • Unused View Templates: Lists templates with zero assigned views
    • Unplaced Rooms: Shows rooms not placed in the model
    • Unused View Filters: Identifies filters not used in any views
    • Summary Statistics: Total count of unused elements across all categories
  3. Analyze Breakdown Lists: Each category shows detailed lists of items available for deletion with automatic selection of all unused items.

FAQโ€‹

Manual management requires checking view templates individually in the View Templates dialog, creating room schedules to find unplaced rooms, and has no standard method for detecting unused view filters. This tool automatically detects all three categories and enables batch deletion with detailed selection control.

Some view filters may only be used in unused view templates. When you delete unused view templates first, these filters become unused and will appear in subsequent runs. The tool may require 2-3 iterations for complete cleanup in complex projects.

The tool automatically selects all detected unused items for deletion, but you maintain full control to uncheck any items you want to preserve. This speeds up the selection process while allowing for careful review and customization.

Yes, the tool shows detailed breakdown lists of all unused view templates, unplaced rooms, and unused view filters before deletion. You can review these lists and adjust selections as needed before executing the cleanup.

Generally yes, but review the lists first. Some view templates or filters might be intended for future use. The tool provides individual selection control so you can preserve specific items while cleaning up obvious unused assets.
